About Columbus, GA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Columbus, Georgia is a large city located on the state’s west central border. Situated along the Chattahoochee River, Columbus serves as the county seat of Muscogee County. With approximately 195,000 residents, Columbus is the third largest city in Georgia by population, and many residents work in nearby Fort Benning. While Fort Benning is the top employer, other major companies here include TSYS, Aflac, and Piedmont Columbus Regional.
There are many interesting things to see and do in the city. Columbus has a proud military history, and visitors to the area may like to check out the National Infantry Museum. Outdoor recreation is popular along the Chattahoochee River with whitewater rafting, and the Chattahoochee RiverWalk offers 15 miles of walking and bike trails. Other top points of interest include the Columbus Museum, the National Civil War Naval Museum, and the Coca-Cola Space Science Center.
Part of a humid subtropical climate, Columbus features distinctive weather conditions depending on the season. Summers here are long, hot, and very muggy. While average daily highs may only reach about 90 degrees in January, oppressive humidity will make it feel even hotter. The autumn season is also hot and will burn off into a mild, short winter. Columbus residents don’t often get to experience snow during the season, and while daytime highs average in the 50s and 60s, freezing temperatures are common, especially once the sun goes down.
Many Columbus residents invest in energy efficient heat pumps rather than separate climate control systems for heating and cooling. A heat pump is a system that can be reversed to either cool or heat a controlled space, and it typically consists of two main parts: the indoor air handler and an outdoor unit that looks similar to a central A/C. An electric heat pump offers an efficient system for all a home’s climate control needs, providing uniform heating and cooling while reducing utility costs.
